The Hottest Trends For 2010 - Vintage Style Lace Shoes

It is widely believed among fashionistas that some of the hottest trend for 2010 will be lingerie, sheer fabrics, and lace. Sheer fabrics are semi-transparent and flimsy, as opposed to most fabrics that are opaque even if varying in thickness. These all elicit age-old elegance and old-fashioned delicateness. This article will focus on how lace shoes continue to be popular more than 60 years after they were first invented.

Basically an openwork fabric, lace is patterned with open holes in the work, made by hand or machine. The holes can be formed in many ways. While usually open spaces are created as part of the lace fabric, they can also be formed via removal of threads or cloth from a previously woven fabric.

Originally fine materials such as silver and gold threads were involved in lace-making. These days, however, anything from copper threads to cotton are used in the lacing process. No matter how old it gets or how new it is, or no matter what material is used, lace designs still manage to have a timeless feel to them.

If you get a chance to look at some vintage lace pumps from the 1950s, you may find that they are decorated with sparkly lucite heels. It was common to have for example a sparkly rhinestone-inlaid flower in each heel.

While over 60 years have passed since lace was originally used in shoes, the lace design retains it sophisticated style in each shoe and remains relevant. There is no doubt that the fragile grace and luxury of lace will last through time.

When you have a moment, try to check out some lace shoes to find a style that you like. Some are sexy, some are just pretty, but most of them are most likely also timeless.
